Below you will find the current medical description
of the most common abortion procedures.
You have the right to make informed choices!
Vacuum aspiration or D&C
The woman lies on a table, feet are placed in surgical stirrups. The abortionist will then dilate (open) the woman's cervix. The cervix acts to seal the womb or uterus during a pregnancy. The abortionist may use laminaria (sea weed strands). When using laminaria, the woman will be asked to leave and return the next day. Metal or plastic rods can also be used. The abortionist will force these through the cervix until there is enough room for surgical instruments to be inserted into the uterus. At this point the abortionist will use a suction machine poweful enough to pull the placenta and baby away from the wall of the uterus. A razor-edge curette may be used to scrape the lining of the uterus to remove any pieces of the baby or placenta that may have been left behind. Procedure lasts 4-10 minutes. Women find it to be painful.
If anesthesia is available, it will cost more
Non-surgical or chemical abortions:
RU486 and MTX chemicals originally intended to kill cancer cells are used to kill baby. Woman will experience contractions, bleeding, and expulsion of the dead pre-born child when at home. Can be painful and carries same risks as surgical abortion and additional chemical side-effects.
Dilation and evacuation:
Used in 2nd trimester.
Cervix is again dilated. This time must be more opened. The abortionist will alternate between cutting and tearing the baby into pieces and vacuuming out the uterus. The vacuum tubing is the size of a washing machine hose. The skull of the unborn child must be crushed with forceps because it is too large to pass through the cervix. The jagged pieces of bone must be drawn out carefully. The risk of bleeding, infection, and perforation is much higher
Before a woman knows she may
a little heart is beating!
Just 21 days after conception,
little hearts beat
What did Mother Teresa of Calcutta have to say?
"God has created each one of us, every human being,
for greater things-- to love and to be loved.
But why did God make women?
Because a woman's love is one image of the love of God,
and a man's love is another image of God's love.
Both are created to love, but each in a different
way. Woman and man complete each other,
and together show forth God's love
more fully than each can alone.
That special power of loving that belongs to a woman
is seen most clearly when she becomes a mother.
Motherhood is the gift of God to women.
How grateful we must be to
God for this wonderful gift that brings such joy to the whole world,
women and men alike!
Yet we can destroy this gift of motherhood,
especially by the evil of abortion, but also by thinking that
other things like jobs or positions are more important than loving,
than giving oneself to others.
No job, no plans, no possessions,
no idea of "freedom" can take the place of love.
So anything that
destroys God's gift of motherhood
destroys His most precious gift to women--
the ability to love as a woman."
